Kupu-Kupu (pronounced; Koopoo-Koopoo) is Balinese for 'Butterfly'
Kupu-Kupu — was born fifteen years ago from a life lived fully, freely, and without borders.
Every piece begins in Bali, where I hand-dig lava from ancient volcanic beds. Before it becomes jewelry, it is honored. I carry it to a nearby temple to be blessed, then cleanse it in purified water and coconut oil, and set it beneath the Bali sun to dry. Only then does it begin its journey.
From Bali, the lava travels with me to my studio in Jaipur, India — where master gemstone cutters shape it alongside the finest gemstones I have gathered on my travels. The pearls come from a woman in Thailand, chosen by hand, one by one. Set in sterling silver, by myself and our team of expert silversmiths. Each piece holds the memory of where it came from.
I do this alone. A single woman rooted in Seattle but drawn endlessly outward — through Bali, Thailand, India, Berlin — thirty years of living between worlds. I am the sole hand behind every Kupu-Kupu creation. No factories. No shortcuts. Just one woman, a life of wandering, and a deep reverence for the earth and the stones it offers.
Wear it knowing it was made with intention — for you, and for the butterfly in you.
